The National Committee Commemoration Capitulations 1945 Wageningen (NCHC) exists to honour the memory of the liberation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and in particular, the surrender of the German forces in Wageningen and the Japanese forces on the warship ‘Missouri’.
NCHC’s mission statement
“To commemorate nationally, in the city of Wageningen, the liberation of the Netherlands in 1945 and in particular, the surrender of German and Japanese forces. To ensure the commemoration stays relevant and meaningful to current and future generations, activities based on the topics of peace, freedom, security and human rights are held.”
The NCHC aims to achieve these objectives by organizing an annual commemorative program in Wageningen, which consists of the following:
National liberation debate
Commemoration service in the church "Johannes de Doper"
Commemoration ceremony at the liberation monument
Liberation parade
Closing reception in the auditorium of Wageningen University
