Memorial ceremony capitulations 1945
The core activities of the NCHC is the Memorial ceremony capitulations 1945 at the National liberation monument in the May 5th square. The ceremony begins with a flag ceremony, followed by parts that are annually the same and parts that change each year. For example, after playing the first verse of the Wilhelmus there will be a short speech. The speaker will be announced on this website. Subsequently, the schoolchildren of the St. Joseph School in Wageningen that have adopted the monument to take care of it, will release 25 pigeons. This is the official start of the Liberation parade.
Liberation parade
Following the Memorial ceremony the Liberation parade will begin. The memorial focuses on the capitulations in 1945 and the consequences on the themes liberation, freedom and security. For the Liberation Parade, this means that the focus is on the World War II veterans (and the resistance), with a firm emphasis on the international nature by the presence of military units of our liberators. In addition to this are the heirs, they are military from parts that are registered as the heirs of the troops from then, which are represented by active serving soldiers.
